＜OLDAYS RECORDS presents SONG CYCLE> Song Cycle Vol. 8! On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Showa era, Neon sign Saito sings "Tokyo. Welcome to the dense world of Showa song sense" (Reiko Yuyama) I can't answer the question, "What is a song?" I can't answer that question very well. I have been working on the theme of "uta-yokyoku" for more than 10 years.... Some people say "Yujiro is an uta-yoku! Some people say "Yujiro is an uta-yoku", others say "Momoe is an uta-yoku".... The image of "uta-yokyoku" is too broad. The fact that the term, which was once a generic term for popular songs, has changed to a genre that refers to Japanese oldies, further adds to the confusion. Still, I certainly have a vague image in my mind that this is what song music is. In the city at night, delinquent, lonely. This work is a present-day depiction of neon signs living in 1979 while retaining this feeling. The subtitle is of course borrowed from Joe Strummer's famous phrase, "Punk Is Attitude, Not Style. There is a reason why Neonsine Saito, who has been singing about Yokohama, sings about "Tokyo.The reason is that we were asked by producer Reiko Yuyama to participate in Tokyo Biennale 2023 - Songs of Tokyo, along with a splendid lineup of performers including CKB, Miki Hirayama, Reitaro Strange.... The setlist was a collection of songs that included the names of places in Tokyo. The venues were Shibuya's Center Street and Ginza's Corridor Street! The tracks were created with a special twist just for these two days. This album is the result of further developing these tracks into a work of art. Wouldn't it be wonderful to release such a work on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Showa era?
