The music of Cape Verde, a volcanic archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean about 500 km from Senegal, West Africa, was once popularized around the world thanks to the presence of Cesaria Evola (1941-2011). After Cesaria's death, Nancy Vieira has continued to sing music that evokes the country's traditions, with a focus on "Morna," "Coladeira," and "Funana," which are representative of the country's music. It has been six years since the release of "Manha Florida" in 2018. The original title "Gente" means "people" in Portuguese, referring to the musicians, singers, and writers of Cape Verde who are associated with the best musicians and producers in Portugal. (C)RS
