Description:
Soft Machine, the founding band of Canterbury Music, has created an advanced sound incorporating elements of psychedelic, jazz, and progressive rock. Their new album, crafted with a fresh lineup, pays homage to the band's history while marking the maiden voyage of the reborn Soft Machine! Following the 2023 release of the album Other Doors, drummer John Marshall passed away suddenly. The band welcomed Asaf Sarkis, one of the top drummers in the British jazz scene, and continues its activities with this new lineup. After several concerts, they began recording new material with this lineup. The completed album, being their thirteenth, is simply titled 'Thirteen (13 - Thirteen)'. John Esaridge's technical and solid guitar playing and Theo Travis's emotional and lyrical horn playing take center stage, woven together by the vital rhythm section of Fred Baker and Asaf Sarkis. This sound evokes Soft Machine albums like the popular 'Bundles' and 'Softs (original title: Softs). It also pays homage to the guitar sound of the late David Allen, the band's founder. The Japanese edition exclusively features UHQCD/original LP reproduction paper sleeve packaging, plus two bonus tracks, released ahead of the global release.
