Paul Krecki succeeded Anselme as music director of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in 1967. Krecki, of Polish descent, boasts a wide repertoire and is an accomplished orchestral trainer, and he has also worked in the United States and the United Kingdom. It is curious that there are almost no recordings with the Orchestre de Romande, but this may have been due to the relationship with the record company. It is a sign of his extraordinary confidence that he has chosen "Pictures at an Exhibition," one of Anselme's major repertoire, for his overseas tours, and he makes full use of the magnificent sound of the Orchestre de la Romande to give us a beautiful performance. The individuality and characteristics of the instruments are well expressed. The most notable performance is the beautiful rendition of "Siegfried Pastorale" that conveys a deep and even profound sadness. This is a must-hear performance that makes one imagine some special feelings. A good stereo recording was provided by the family of a former member. It is released in high quality MQACD.
