Dedicated to the Defaye Quartet, still a brilliant achievement of the Defaye Quartet! Saxidea, with its unique sound that is rare in the world, pays homage to the Defaye Quartet with its fullest performance! <Kenichiro Muto Soprano Saxophone> Studied under Arata Sakaguchi at Tokyo University of the Arts. In 1975, he became the first Japanese to enroll in the saxophone department of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, where he studied with Daniel Defaye. In 1978, he became the first Japanese saxophonist to win a prize in an international competition at the Gap International Saxophone Competition in France. In 1979 and 1981, he was invited to perform "Pictures at an Exhibition" and "Bolero" as soloist for the Karajan/Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra's tour of Japan and China. In 1982, she made her debut as a soloist, performing Ibert's concerto at the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra subscription concert. Since then, she has been invited as a soloist by the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra (393rd and 445th concerts), Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, Gumyo Symphony Orchestra, and Century Orchestra Osaka. In 1994, she performed Larsson's concerto for the first time in Japan with the Trondheim Chamber Ensemble (Norway), opening the way for future generations of soloists. He is also credited with bringing the double-tongue technique of saxophone playing to an artistic level for the first time in the world. He has been invited as a jury member to the Paris International Saxophone Competition (France), the Jules de Vries International Saxophone Competition (Sweden), and the Adolphe Sachs International Saxophone Competition (Belgium).He has been teaching master classes at the Ingessund University of Music in Sweden and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, France, and is highly acclaimed abroad. He is currently a specially appointed professor at Toho Gakuen School of Music. (1/3)
