The group was formed in 2021. Formed in 2021, the group's name "Modetro" is a coined word combining "modern" and "retro". The name "Modetro" was coined by combining the words "modern" and "retro," and it is intended to convey the appeal of saxophone music from the Baroque to the modern era. He was dispatched as an artist to the Nagano session of the 2021-2002 Outreach Forum for the Revitalization of Music in Public Halls, a project of the Japan Foundation for Regional Art-Activities. After graduating from the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Chuo University, he went on to graduate from Shobi Music College. He went on to study at the Conservatoire Diploma Course of the same school. Studied saxophone under Masahiro Owada, the late Hiromi Hara, Masahiro Tamura, and Yuto Miyake. Third prize (highest prize) in the general section of the 27th Japan Classical Music Competition. Graduated from Komoro High School of Music and Kunitachi College of Music. Performed at the graduation concert, the Saxophone Society Newcomer's Concert, and the Yamaha Newcomer's Concert. Performed as a soloist with the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra under Kentaro Kawase. He has performed with the Tokyo Symphonic Band and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra as a guest performer. Performed in the brass entertainment "ONE PIECE Otoentei" based on the world famous Japanese manga "ONE PIECE". Performed in "One Piece Otomatsuri", a project commemorating the 1000th episode of the original story. Kazumasa Oda, tenor saxophone Kazumasa Oda was born in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Graduated from the Showa University of Music, majoring in music performance. Graduated from Showa University of Music, majoring in musicology. Performed in the Newcomer's Concert sponsored by Doyoinkai. He has performed as a soloist with the Showa University of Music Symphonic Band. He studied saxophone under Tetsu Tamura, Kazuo Tomioka, Junchika Arimura, and Shogo Eimura, and chamber music under Junchika Arimura, Shogo Eimura, Takamasa Matsubara, and Shintaro Fukumoto. He is a tenor saxophone player of the Tokyo Saxophone Orchestra.Ryo Kato, baritone saxophone, was born in Moka City, Tochigi Prefecture. Graduated from Showa University of Music. He is a member of SAXIDEA, a saxophone quartet led by international saxophonist Kenichiro Muto, and released "reborn" from N.A.T. in January 2019, which was selected as a recommended disc by "Ongaku Gendai" magazine. Member of SAXIDEA and Modetro Saxophone Ensemble. He is the leader of the "Tokyo Saxophone Orchestra", which consists of only young male saxophone players.
