This is the debut album of the euphonium/tuba ensemble "Ueno Bass Clef" formed by euphonium players Saika Sato and Yuki Yamazaki and tuba players Nana Ishimaru and Yuya Tamura, all graduates of Tokyo University of the Arts. Each member of this talented ensemble has won prizes at national and international competitions and is active as a soloist and orchestral musician. This debut album features works commissioned by the ensemble for their previous concerts, which have been well received. The ensemble's debut disc features a selection of works commissioned by the ensemble for its previous concerts, including "Variations on a Theme by Paganini," arranged by popular wind band composer Hidefumi Suzuki, and original works written for this ensemble by young and talented composers such as Tetsuro Kubo, Mitsuji Fukumaru, and Dai Yamada. This album offers new charm and possibilities for the "bari tuba" ensemble. The members of the ensemble have a high quality ensemble, beautiful tones and melodies. The ensemble's rich sound and fullness of sound are unique to this ensemble. A new world of "Bali Tuba" opens up. (C)RS
