This is a great disc that delivers international numbers with a grainy piano touch in a pop and lighthearted manner, and is back in STEREO/MONO format! Ray Bryant was affiliated with the Cadet label, the jazz division of the Chess label, in 1966, and was regarded as the second biggest dollar-box star after Ramsey Lewis. Billy Joe's Song," a cover of Bobby Gentry's number one hit, ranked at number 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated November 4, 1967. Take a Bryant Step" delivers all 12 tracks, including the single pre-release of the song, in an anyway pop and lighthearted manner. Arranged and conducted by Richard Evans, who has also worked with Soulful Strings and Ramsey Lewis. Supporting members are unidentified, but one listen is enough to know that they are all highly skilled.
