Description:
Billy Stewart, the tragic singer, released his third and last original album in 1967. This album, reissued in paper jacket, is Billy's third and last original album. It was released in Japan in July 1967 by JVC, and it was actually the first album released in Japan. The previous two albums "I Do Love You" (1965: #97/R&B, #2) and "Unbelievable" (1966: #138/R&B, #7) were not released. The single "Summertime" was released in Japan (December 1966) a little late, and the timing of the album seems to have been missed, probably because the next album was already ready to be released in the US. The original title of the album, "Teaches Old Standards New Tricks," was intended to breathe new life into old standard numbers, but in Japan, the album was released under the Japanese title "Old Songs New Tricks. It is truly easy to understand and seems to better convey the purpose of this album. As the title suggests, all the songs are so-called cover songs. Produced by Billy Davis as on the second album.The first two albums had ranked on the pop and R&B charts, but the third, unfortunately, did not show up on either. 3 singles were released through 1969, but other than "Tell Me The Truth" (1968: R&B, #48), the year 1970 was fruitless.
