In March 2021, the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra established Japan's first original symphonic orchestra label with the support of the "Fiscal 2020 Agency for Cultural Affairs Profit Enhancement Project", which includes rare recordings of the orchestra since its founding in 1956, performances by Munsch, Markevich, Benny Goodman, Ayao Watanabe (founding conductor of the Japan Philharmonic) and others, and the first performances of the "Japan Philharmonic Series". The label has begun digital archiving and distribution of historical sound sources, including the premieres of the "Japan Philharmonic Series.Currently 52 titles have been released. This is the first CD release of rare recordings of the famous conductor Stokowski from this distribution. The 20th century master conductor, known as the "Magician of the Orchestra," was also an excellent arranger, and was extremely well known for his appearances in films and other productions. This CD is a recording by the orchestra of his live performance at Nippon Budokan in 1965, a major event in the history of music. Included are two pieces, "Toccata and Fugue" and Beethoven's "Destiny. These are two great performances that remind us of the times and are full of Stokowski's flavor, and they have been revived.
