Description:

The Tetzlaff Quartet is a string quartet acclaimed around the world. Formed in 1994 by violinist Christian Tetzlaff and his sister Tanya, the quartet is a regular participant in European music festivals, and their performances have been described as "dramatic and energetic. While previous albums have featured unexpected combinations such as "Schoenberg and Sibelius" and "Mendelssohn and Berg," this album, their first recording for ONDINE, is an orthodox combination of Schubert and Haydn in the Viennese tradition. Schubert's last string quartet, No. 15, was written in a short period of 10 days, yet it is an extremely accomplished work. Although it is in the key of G major, the entire piece is full of tension, with Schubert's dizzying alternation of minor and major keys. Haydn's quartet is one of the series called "Solar String Quartet". It is an experimental and creative work created by Haydn, who explored the possibilities of the quartet. Naxos Japan
