Bach (1685-1750)

Description:

The "Mass in B minor" was completed the year before Bach's death, and although there are many uncertainties about its formation, such as the fact that only the "Sanctus" was composed in 1724 and the "Chirier" and "Gloria" are assumed to have been composed in 1733, it is incomparable in its high degree of perfection. Although the opening Kyrie is in B minor, most of the piece is written in D major (parallel key to B minor), a key that praises God, and is full of brilliance, making it truly a work worthy of Bach's masterpiece. In Europe, performing this work is a ritual in itself, and this April 2016 performance by Dijkstra, the Bavarian Radio Choir, Concerto Cologne, and young soloists thrilled audiences, and Munich critics praised it as "almost magical. Munich critics also praised the performance, saying, "It was almost magical. This is the conclusion of the "Bach Project" by Peter Dijkstra and the Bavarian Radio Choir, which started in 2010. CD3 includes a commentary on the works in German. Naxos Japan
