The 10th installment of Yasushi Utsunomiya's divine sound "Utsunomia MIX" series! Heavyweight British drummer/percussionist Roger Turner and sara(.es). Three sets of Duo improvisation live performance at their first meeting, uncut sound sources. A record of fertile resonance in the space of artist Hideo Takashima's exhibition "Emptily Filled"! Hideo Takashima's solo exhibition "Fill witt Empty" was held at Gallery Nomart, a contemporary art gallery in Osaka, in January 2025. At the first Takashima exhibition at Nomart, sara (.es) and Roger Turner, a heavyweight British drummer/percussionist, performed live together for the first time. The exhibition title "Emptily Filled" refers to Takashima's "state of being filled with margins that encompass a variety of possibilities. The live performance was linked to this theme. The two musicians, who were performing together for the first time, stood by Takashima's huge sculpture. The album contains a realistic and fresh recording of the gradual resonance between the two musicians, who simply placed themselves in the space without any meeting.The two artists, who felt the same feeling of empathy after just one session, will visit Japan again from the UK in January 2026 to celebrate the release of this album, and Roger & sara have scheduled a live concert to commemorate the recording. *Quoted from the liner notes by music critic/writer Naritsugu Hosoda, "We listen to music without a 'face'". By listening closely to music without a "face," we can come into deeper contact with the complex multifaceted nature that lurks in the depths of the performance--the raw vitality evoked by the sound production itself.
