From the masterpiece "Ricenza" to the latest work, this album pursues musical diversity beyond technique based on a continuous world view. Included is an early work, a 2021 revised version of "Sonatine" based on a theme by Akira Miyoshi. <Teruaki Suzuki (Composer) was born in Sendai City in 1958. After studying composition at Toho Gakuen School of Music, he completed his graduate studies at Toho Gakuen School of Music. Studied under Akira Miyoshi. In 1984, he was awarded the 7th Composition Prize of the Japan Symphony Foundation, and in 1985 and 1987, he won the first prize in both the orchestral and chamber music sections of the Hambach Prize International Composition Competition in West Germany, In 1985 and 1987, he won the first prize in both the orchestral and chamber music competitions. His orchestral works have been performed and broadcast throughout Europe; in 1988, his opera "Twin Stars" (based on Kenji Miyazawa's novel) was premiered in Sendai; in 1990, "Humnos" for two mixed choruses and orchestra was commissioned by the 16th Min'on Contemporary Composition Festival; in 2022, he will perform at Oji Hall. In 2022, he held a solo exhibition of chamber music at Oji Hall, Tokyo, and was awarded the Muramatsu Prize in 1991. He has been a member of Art Respirant since 2007, and has been a lecturer of composition at Tokyo University of the Arts from 2012 to 2017.He is currently a professor of composition at Toho Gakuen School of Music and a board member of the Japan Federation of Composers (JFC). Many of his instrumental and choral works have been published and released on CD, and his "The Music of Teruaki Suzuki - Orchestral and Chamber Works" has been highly acclaimed in various magazines, including a special selection by "Record Geijutsu".Major works include "String Quartets Nos. 1-5" (1983-2022), "Violin Concerto" (1984), "Son Struktur No. 1/2" for five players (1984/2007), "Symphonic Transformations" for orchestra (1985), "Ricenza" for violin, for viola, viola, and cello (1987), "Prolazio" for clarinet and 13 instruments (1990), "Five Concerto-like Segments" for chamber orchestra (1994), "Audae Carminum" for unaccompanied mixed chorus (1996), "Mimi sumasu" for children's chorus and orchestra (1999 ), "Requiem" for mixed chorus and wind/percussion ensemble (2000), "Canto manierismo" for chamber orchestra (2001), "Tono phantom light" Poem for two groups of same chorus and percussion (2002), "Tir na nog" for unaccompanied same chorus (2004), "Altarpiece" for chamber orchestra (2009), "Juguet" for unaccompanied chorus and string orchestra (2010), "Suite No. 1/2 for unaccompanied cello" (2011/2021), "Divertimento" for cello ensemble (2011), "Spirituelle" for string orchestra ( 2013), "Spirituel No. 2/3" for cello and piano (2015)/violin and piano (2018),Piano Trio No. 1/2 (2016/2021), Movman Sonorité No. 1/2 for piano (2022)/violin and cello (2023), and Carmina for three voices, cello and piano (2024), as well as numerous choral works.
