Kubelík's last New World! The concert was recorded live in 1990, the year after Kubelík returned to his homeland for the first time in 44 years, and the following year he took the podium of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. The program includes Mozart's symphonies related to Prague and the "New World Symphony". This is the first SACD release in high-resolution format using ORT mastering technology originally developed by Nippon Columbia. The CD layer also uses this mastered sound source. This is the third time Kubelík has conducted the Czech Philharmonic since his return to the orchestra on October 11, 1991 (he had conducted "Our Homeland" twice the previous year), and it was an important concert for the Prague audience (the following month, the two conducted "Our Homeland" in Tokyo in an electrifying performance). (The following month, the two would perform "Our Homeland" in Tokyo).The concert was titled the 150th anniversary concert of Dvořák's birth, and featured "Prague" in the first half, followed by Mozart's No. 25 with Filksny at the piano and "The New World" to close the concert. The recording was made on short notice, but the original recording was not by SUPRAPHON, but by BVA International. The sound quality of the recording is different from that of the previous year, and it can be seen that the recording was made with limited microphones and other equipment. Nevertheless, the performance is as warm and enthusiastic as the previous year's recording, and one can feel Kubelík's extraordinary ambition. The performance of "New World" was particularly propulsive, and compared to the live recording of the ORFEO with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks in 1980, which was a little later in the year, the performance seemed to have been rejuvenated. This is one of the most moving recordings of Kubelík's music, and one can feel his strong feelings not only for the music, but also for the orchestra and the place.This time, we have reissued the recording, making full use of ORT mastering for the digital recording, and emphasizing the atmosphere of the time. Although it may not necessarily convey the highest resolution or the finest nuance, we would like to pay our respects to this historical event. (1/2)
