The history of the Vienna State Opera Japan Tour began in 1980. In the 45 years since then, the Vienna State Opera has toured Japan 10 times. This tour will be the first in 9 years since 2016. Vienna is called the capital of music. The aroma of Vienna, the sounds of Vienna, are the object of admiration for music fans in Japan. The Vienna State Opera is a true symbol of this. It has produced many great composers, conductors, and singers, premiered many excellent operas, and still maintains the glory and traditions that have existed since the court opera of the 18th century. During this visit to Japan, two operas will be performed: Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" and R. Strauss's "The Knight of the Roses". To commemorate this visit to Japan, the world premiere BD release of the legendary "The Marriage of Figaro" directed by Jonathan Miller, which was performed at the Theater an der Wien in 1991, the Mozart year just before Claudio Abbado became music director, and was also performed in Japan in 1994.
