Herbert von Karajan, a great conductor who reigned supreme in the world of 20th century classical music with his outstanding musicianship and charisma. This remarkable concert was held at the end of 1984, the year of his feud with the Berlin Philharmonic, as part of the "Karajan's Legacy" series that Karajan energetically worked on in his later years in the 1980s. The following year was the 300th anniversary of Bach's birth, and this concert was all-Bach, featuring Karajan's treasured daughter, Anne-Sophie Mutter, and together with the Magnificat, they gave a wonderful performance that was in perfect harmony.
