Dream Theater, the band that continues to reign supreme in progressive metal, is releasing its "Lost Not Forgotten Archives" series of official bootlegs of live performances, demos, studio outtakes, and other treasured recordings. The 10th volume in the series is a demo of the band's 4th album "Falling Into Infinity" from 1997, the only full-length album recorded by the band's second keyboardist, Derek Sherinian (now with Sons of Apollo). This album is a complete change from the previous album "Awake", which showed an aggressive dark and heavy style, and it has a perfect balance of flowing and beautiful melodies with a good amount of heaviness and the beauty of progressive metal construction. The variety of songs and arrangements that do not overload the listener with too many sounds give a sense of the band's maturity, while at the same time broadening their range. (C)RS
