This is a truly female guitarist-focused, play-along acoustic album by Sue Foley, winner of her third Coco Taylor Award (Traditional Blues Female Artist) at the 2023 Blues Music Awards! With brilliant technique, Foley performs the songs of Elizabeth Cotton, Memphis Minnie, Mabel Carter, Sister Rosetta Tharp, Lydia Mendoza, Ida Presti, and other pioneering female guitarists, not only in the blues but also in country, flamenco, and classical music. Born in Ottawa, Canada in 1968, Sue Foley picked up the guitar at age 13 and gradually gravitated toward the blues, leading her own band on a Canadian tour at age 18. She then signed with Anton's in Austin, Texas, and released her first album, "Young Girl Blues," in 1992. After moving to Texas, he worked as an O.A. for Albert Collins, Johnny Winter, and others, and released albums consistently.After returning to Canada, she wrote the book "Guitar Woman" and participated in "Blues on Blonde on Blonde: Bob Dylan Blues Covers (2003)". In 2004, she moved to RUF and released the live recordings "Change" and "New Used Car". She also produced the hit compilation "Blues Guitar Woman". He then released two duo albums with Peter Karp on Blind Pig, "He Said She Said (2010)" and "Beyond the Crossroads (2012)," followed by his long-awaited solo album "The Ice Queen" in 2018 and "Pinky's Blues" in 2021, which won He has won many music awards.
