This is the work of Sugar Ray Rayford, a superb bluesy soul singer reminiscent of the Malaco sound of yesteryear, including ZZ Hill and Little Milton. Produced by Eric Cohn, who has worked with John Mayall and others. The album is produced by Eric Kohn, who has worked with John Mayall and others, and features a top-notch cast of LA musicians, including Rick Holmstrom, a veteran guitarist who has backed Mavis Staples and others. With a large horn section and chorus backing them up, the band delivers powerful vocals on deep blues, southern soul, blues-rock, and gospel-tinged tunes.
