Description:

Winner of the “Prix Seldan 2026,” a Future Maestro Set to Lead the Next Generation Eva Gevorgian’s 2025 Live Performance Released on CD This is a recording of the 2025 Japan tour by Eva Gevorgian, a Russian-Armenian pianist who shot to fame as the youngest finalist in the 2021 Chopin Competition. Continuing to deepen her artistry and expanding her reach—including winning the “Pri-Serdan 2026,” a music award presented by Buchbinder to recognize young, talented pianists—this is a must-hear album that captures her “present” moment. Her performances, characterized by unique nuances, effervescent passion, and richly expressive phrasing, are brimming with the joy of listening to the piano. Her signature piece, “La Campanella,” is bold and fearless! This recording was made at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall during Eva Gevorgian’s 2025 tour of Japan. It is her second CD produced in Japan, following the live recording from her first Japan tour at the same venue in August–September 2023. According to Eva, the concept behind this program is “The Romantic Lineage: From Chopin to Rachmaninoff.” Chopin and Schumann were both born in 1810 (Chopin was born three months earlier), and Schumann held Chopin in high regard and was influenced by him. The 12th piece in the “Carnival” program is titled “Chopin” and features a nocturne-like style. Furthermore, both Chopin and Rachmaninoff spent their later years away from their homelands, driven by a longing for home. It is Schumann who connects the two in this program, and “Schumann seems to serve as a bridge between Chopin and Rachmaninoff,” says Eva. “I hope that our Japanese audience will appreciate the differences and similarities among these three masters of piano music, who span the Romantic era and beyond.” Yoshiya Ishihara (Representative, Office Ryo) — From the liner notes ALTUS
