Description:
Includes. Silvestrov (arr. Giese):Prayer for Ukraine (2014/2022) *Japan premiere R. Strauss:Symphonic Poem "Life of Hero" Op.40 Performers Kazushi Ohno (Conductor) Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra Tatsuya Yabe (Violin/Solo Concertmaster) Live recording: April 21, 2022 / Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall (CD) Produced in Japan with Japanese obi and commentary The Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Kazushi Ohno present "Life of Hero" in 2022 as part of their live series. The Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and its music director, Kazushi Ohno, present a live performance of "Life of a Hero" in 2022. The orchestra's colors are fully displayed in this performance of R. Strauss' large-scale music, which is both intense and deep. Solo concertmaster Tatsuya Yabe's brilliant violin solo, which Ohno describes as "melting our hearts," was a highlight. In the latter half of the performance, Ohno also speaks passionately about "the depth of music when, after having reached the top of the mountain, you are slowly walking downhill toward the end of your life," and your ears will not be able to take your eyes off the music until the end, when it is filled with a sense of accomplished beauty. Coupled with "Prayer for Ukraine," which was hastily added to the program in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Originally written by Ukrainian-born Silvestrov in 2014 as an a capella choral piece, it is a serene piece of music in which the chorus sings "Lord, protect Ukraine." The piece is performed here in 2022 in an orchestral version arranged by Andreas Gies. This was the first performance in Japan. (King International)
