Anyway, I've met an amazing talent.... Sewing Pattern is the one-person pop unit of Angie Marr, a fashion-conscious girl living in Chicago. Her music has the melodic brilliance of the best pop songs of the good old 60's, the sense of stylish arrangements of jazz, bossa nova, and film music, the groove of Motown and 60's girl groups, and a fresh sensibility that is dazzlingly beautiful. The songs are a perfect blend of pop songs with a fresh sensibility and a dazzlingly beautiful guitar pop groove. The scale of the sound, which is heavily fortified with violins and horns, is not just indie-pop. Well, I hope you can understand a little bit if you actually listen to the music.... After all, M-1 "Sugar Into Tea," a chamber-pop classic that opens the album, is a shocker.The pop-illustration jacket (cat jacket!) It is hard to imagine the loveliness conveyed by the pop-illustration jacket (cat cover!), but the beautiful and gorgeous introductory violin sounds make you fall in love with the song at first sight, if not at first hearing. The uplifting feeling in the chorus and the comfort of the harmonies casually layered on top of each other.... M-2, with its chic bossa nova flavor, is followed by M-5, which shows her taste for the 60's. The song quotes a phrase from the Marvelettes' classic "Please Mr. Postman," which is also known as a Beatles' song. The sequel M-7, M-3, M-13, and M-11, which has a fresh electro feel, are sure to be a hit with indie pop and guitar pop lovers. The beautiful, fragile, jazzy M-10 and M-14 are so large in scale that one can only marvel at them. She's a girl with a ton of talent.
