The fifth volume of the Alkan series by Yui Morishita! 48 Motifs" (1861) is a collection of character pieces in four volumes and 49 pieces. The entire work consists of two rounds of 24 tonalities in different orders, with the addition of the finale "Praise the Lord" that follows. Each piece displays a remarkable diversity and completely transcends the world of the common character pieces. Without a doubt, this is one of Alkan's finest works, and also a masterpiece that should be etched in the history of piano pieces.
