Trombonist Mayumi Shimizu has been active not only as principal of the Modern Southwest German Radio Symphony Orchestra, but also as a soloist and chamber musician around the world, as well as a lecturer at the Leipzig University of Music. Her first album "Fantasy" won numerous awards, including the 8th CD Shop Grand Prize, and her long-awaited second solo album, recorded five years later, features a wide range of compositions by modern and contemporary composers with ties to Paris. The album also includes a commissioned work composed especially for Shimizu, and offers a glimpse into the "now" of Mayumi Shimizu, who continues to make great strides in her career.
