The masterpiece "Scenery," which has defined Ryo Fukui's worldwide reappraisal, has been newly remastered from the original tapes and released on SACD, 50 years after its recording. Ryo Fukui first touched the keyboard at the age of 22 and took up jazz piano at 23. This album was recorded in September 1976, when he was 27 years old. It was recorded at the Yamaha Hall in Sapporo with no audience. The album is a masterpiece, featuring a variety of great performances, including standard ballads such as "It Cood Happen to You" and "Kareha" and "Early Summer" by Hideo Ichikawa, a pianist who was a close friend of Ryo Fukui at the time, which triggered the reevaluation of this album. (This is a world-class Japanese jazz treasure that has become a pioneer in drawing attention to jazz in Japan. (C)RS
