David Gray is a world-renowned British singer-songwriter known for hits such as "White Ladder". His thirteenth album, Dear Life, is out now, and David Gray's story is unlike any other. It took him almost a decade to get his break. And he did it in the biggest way imaginable. White Ladder became one of the best-selling British albums of the last few decades and established Gray as an arena-filling artist. As the years have passed, his songcraft has been further deepened by his innate ability to convey a particular emotion, mood, or perception of place, as heard on his critically acclaimed 2021 album Skellig While Ed Sheeran, Adele, Hozier, and others acknowledge his influence David continues to pursue his own unique artistic path.Now, his next chapter will be a new album, Dear Life, to be released on January 17, 2025, in partnership with his independent label, Laugh A Minute Records, and Secretly Distribution. The foundation for this, his 13th album, was laid in 2019, but progress was halted by Covid and the subsequent rescheduling of the "White Ladder" anniversary tour. Hearing the songs again at this time was a reminder of the classic songwriting and electronic undercurrent. However, David ambitiously broadened the palette, working with producer Ben de Vries to create lush orchestral string, horn, and woodwind arrangements to accommodate the thematic scale. Gray is also a songwriter's songwriter, one of those rare artists who can express himself not only with melody but also with lyrics. He is a poetic wizard of words and vast musical taste.Dear Life is a big statement, the work of a man obsessed with his personal artistic journey.
