Brigitte Calls Me Baby

Description:

Bridget Calls Me Baby, a Chicago five-piece led by Wes Leavins. Offering thrills of a bygone era, the Chicago romantics release their debut album, The Future Is Our Way Out. Chicago-based five-piece Brigitte Calls Me Baby will release their debut album, The Future Is Our Way Out, on ATO Records. The album was recorded in part at RCA Studio A in Nashville with nine-time Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton) and features lead singer Wes Leavins and his bandmates, guitarists Jack Fluegel and Trevor Lynch, bassist Devin Wessels, and drummer Jeremy Benshish, also self-produced the songs. With poetic meditations on desire, anxiety, and the complexity of impermanence, the band's debut EP, This House Is Made Of Corners, which was acclaimed by media outlets such as NPR, FLOOD, WXPN, and NME as "Chicago romantics offering thrills of a bygone era," and powerfully evolved. In choosing the title for their debut album, Brigitte Calls Me Baby chose a phrase that Leavins had impulsively scrawled on a white T-shirt as a teenager. After years of rethinking, she eventually transformed it into a lush, cinematic pop song. I want to be uncomfortable but sincere, and I want to write openly about things like a strong fear of death," he said. The Future is Our Way Out is about that fear, but also about the hope that there might be something beyond death, a way out of all the confusion and sadness of life," says Leavins. In The Future is Our Way Out, Brigitte Calls Me Baby takes their genre from the jittery post-punk of "Fine Dining" to the bleak, sleepy serenade of "Always Be Fine," the album's closing track. exploring the extremes of their genre. Too Easy" is a majestic New Wave affair built on skittering guitar tones and darkly pounding beats, while Leavins' voice takes on an almost operatic grandeur as it questions the reliability of memory and the durability of love. With their debut LP, The Future Is Our Way Out, Brigitte Calls Me Baby blends the extravagant romanticism of mid-century pop with the frenetic energy and spiky intensity of early-millennium indie rock, while also exploring genres and With Leavins' hypnotic, crooning vocals at the center, the album is a rare blend of polished style and unabashed sincerity.
