Since then, Keaton is best known for exploring anxiety, separation, mental illness, and loss through his six studio albums. Despite critical acclaim and a rabid cult following, he has always been shrouded in an air of mystery and has largely avoided interviews and social media until now.With "House Party," however, Keaton decided to bring out another version of himself that aggressively pursued fame. He says, "I wanted to make an upbeat, confident pop record about depression and being a performer. I wrote it from the perspective of an artist who has hollowed himself out after a long career in the name of success, an artist who has risen to the top and has become empty and alone, but who has no choice but to express these feelings in pop songs, an otherworldly version of himself," Keaton says.
