This release marks her first physical release in two years and eight months since her 8cm CD single “Romantic Memory” in 2023, and her first full-length album in a full five years. Like her previous works, this album features eight exquisite tracks provided by artists and composers who have influenced Goichi herself. The upbeat title track, “So Close, So Far!,” features memorable lyrics by Yukkyun that capture the exquisite frustration of a romance where “it feels like it’s almost within reach, yet remains just out of reach.” , is the lead track. It is followed by the upbeat pop song “The Party Is Here,” written, composed, and arranged by connie—known as Negicco’s music producer—with Kensuke Okuda (Nona Reeves) contributing on guitar; Also included for the first time are two tracks originally released as digital singles in August 2024: “Love Me,” an original composition by Megumi Suzuki (Megumi Suzuki TRIO) written to commemorate Goichi’s 10th anniversary as a singer, and “sidebyside.” SAWA, who has provided numerous memorable songs and can truly be called “Goichi’s main songwriter,” contributed two tracks to this album: “Meltaway” and “Akaraba: Starry Sky.” “Skip and Fanfare” features lyrics by DJ/trackmaker Nekomamire Taro and composition and arrangement by Chigasaki-born singer-songwriter that’sallfolks. The album also includes a self-cover of “courage” (lyrics by Yumiko Tsuno, music and arrangement by Kuma Robo). The result is a diverse album that can be described as a “return to her roots,” serving as a comprehensive summary of Goichi’s career to date.
