Superorganism's latest album is complete! Superb guests from around the world, including Gen Hoshino, CHAI, Stephen Malkmus, Pi Ja Ma, and Dylan Cartlidge! Their fearless "post-everything" aesthetic has garnered support from artists such as Frank Ocean, Vampire Weekend, Jenny Beth of The Savages, and Gorillaz, and has quickly attracted music fans around the world. Superorganism, which has gained popularity here in Japan with a sold-out five-city tour and appearances at Fuji Rock and Summer Sonic, is releasing its long-awaited sophomore album "World Wide Pop," its first since its debut album in 2018, on "Domino"! They currently focus on Orono, Harry, Tucan, Bee, and Soul, but this album features a number of superb and international collaborators that only they could have done.The band will be joined by close friends and former touring partners CHAI and French singer/songwriter Pi Ja Ma, Stephen Malkmus of Pavement (a longtime idol of Orono's), UK alternative hip-hop artist and rapper Dylan Cartlidge, and another longtime friend from Japan, Gen Hoshino. Another Japanese participant is Gen Hoshino, who has been a close friend of Orono's for a long time. Gen Hoshino and Superorganism also collaborated on the title track of Gen Hoshino's 2019 EP work, Same Thing. World Wide Pop" consists of 13 full-length songs that combine cleverness and sincerity, sci-fi silliness and real-life intensity. Unlike the previous album, which was already completed before all the members began spending time in the same place at the same time, this is a showcase for the members' renewed and deepened understanding of each other's interests and impulses as a result of actually working together face to face.The new song "Teenager," which was released in conjunction with the album announcement, is produced by Stuart Price, a top producer who has worked with Madonna, Dua Lipa, and Franz Ferdinand, and is a perfect example of the band's goal of creating an IMAX-scale impact with songs that come from the bedroom. The band's aim of creating an IMAX-scale impact with songs that originate in the bedroom is beautifully expressed on this album. Throughout the album, millennium-era emotional synthesizers are fused with clumsy, wild weirdness, a stunning upgrade in expressive texture without sacrificing Superorganism's signature playfulness. The domestic CD will include an additional bonus track, and will be enclosed with a bilingual lyrics and commentary.
