The latest chapter in the golden age of the new generation of jazz, Kamasi Washington's latest album, "The Epic", received an 8.5 Pitchfork [Best New Music] score! Kamasi Washington's latest mini-album "Harmony of Difference" is his first release since his 2015 debut album "The Epic," which was acclaimed worldwide as a crystallization of the current LA jazz scene and a symbol of the new golden age of the scene. In addition to the members of The Next Step, who served as the main personnels for the previous album, Kamasi Washington's latest mini-album, "Harmony of Difference," was recorded by his friends Thundercat and Terrace Martin, as well as guitarist Matt Hayes, a young technical prodigy who has backed everyone from Chick Corea to Solange. It is a suite of six movements that explores the possibilities of "counterpoint" as a compositional technique. Kamasi defines counterpoint as "the art of balancing similarities and differences to create harmony between separate melodies," and it culminates in "Truth," a 13-minute-plus piece that explores five different themes and fuses them into a single piece.
