A former core member of Battles, Braxton's solo career has included collaborations with minimalist music master Philip Glass and concerts with world-renowned orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Sinfonietta, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Wordless Music Orchestra in New York City. Taiyoondai Braxton, who has been in the spotlight for his talent and career as a contemporary musician, has released his latest solo album on the long-established NONESUCH RECORDS label, his first in six years. Already performed at the Barbican Centre in London as part of the label's 50th anniversary celebrations, "HIVE" consists of a futuristic oval pod designed by Danish architect Uffe Sarland van Tams and an ensemble of five musicians sitting on top of it. HIVE" is a multimedia work for live performance consisting of a futuristic elliptical pod designed by Danish architect Uffe Sarland van Tams and an ensemble of five musicians seated on the pod.Contemporary music, minimalism, Varèse, Xenakis, Stockhausen, and others -----, Florian Hecker, Carsten Nicolai, and Kanding Ray, to name a few contemporaries... Various textures are organically arranged and intertwined in this extremely modern musique concrete work.
