Commemorating the 400th anniversary of Michael Praetorius' death! The up-and-coming classical music ensemble "La Protezione della Musica" records works from "The Music of Zion"! In commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Michael Praetorius' death this year (2021), the up-and-coming classical music ensemble "La Protezione della Musica" has recorded works from the "Music of Zion". The nine-volume collection includes more than 1,000 chorales and hymns arranged by Pretorius, of which this recording contains ten, centering on the well-known "Our God is a Stronghold". The ensemble was founded in 2015 by Jeroen Finke as La Protezione della Musica, an up-and-coming group that performs a repertoire of works from the late 16th and early 17th centuries. The ensemble also released the world premiere recording of the Matthew Passion by Johann Kyriacus Keeling (1670-1727) on the ARCANTUS label (ARC-20020), which attracted considerable attention.
