The Beethoven Trio Bonn (BTB) is an up-and-coming German piano trio that has made its name known by recording and performing "piano trio arrangements" of rare Russian repertoire and orchestral works by Georgy Sviridov and Aleksandr Alyabiev. The Beethoven anniversary album is a three-volume series that presents a program of Beethoven's piano trios and piano trio arrangements from his orchestral works, one by one, in a contrasting manner. Volume 1 is an arrangement from "Ghost Trio" and "Triple Concerto" (arranged by the 19th century German composer Friedrich Eduard Wirsing [1809-1893]). The brilliant arrangement and BTB's clear performance are a treat to listen to, as the trio does not lose any of the energy of the original piece, but drives on with a freshness and clarity.
