The history of the Strauss family, from his father Johann Strauss I's first tour of Germany in 1834 until his nephew Johann Strauss III laid down the baton at the end of a special concert with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra in 1938, is chronicled over the course of nearly a century by the "Capella Musica Dresden," an ensemble composed of the elite members of the prestigious Saxon State Opera Orchestra. Capella Musica Dresden" takes up a group of gems associated with the names of places such as Coburg, Dresden, Hamburg, and Berlin, and makes the brilliant music of Strauss sound from a new perspective through chamber music arrangements that evoke tradition and refinement.
