Johann Melchior Molter's unknown masterpieces. Volume 12 of the Forgotten Treasures (Forgotten Treasures) series by Michael Alexander Virens & the Cologne Academy, which unearths unknown masterpieces by Baroque, Pre-Classical, and Classical composers, features the works of Johann Melchior Molter, who was court music director in Karlsruhe and Eisenach, Germany. The twelfth volume in the Academy's Forgotten Treasures series is a collection of works by Johann Melchior Molter (1696-1765), a late Baroque and pre-classical composer who served as court music director in Karlsruhe and Eisenach, Germany. Of the approximately 500 instrumental pieces that Molter is said to have written, there are about 70 concertos for one or two soloists and orchestra, and many masterpieces influenced by Vivaldi and Telemann lie in the collection. (Although not included in this album, Molter is also known as the earliest composer to write a clarinet concerto.) ) The listener is treated to performances by outstanding soloists, including historical oboe specialist Christopher Palameta, as well as music with the fullness typical of composers of this period.
