In this performance of Mahler (1860-1911), the conductor carefully looked over every nook and cranny of this great work, read the score with great care and attention to detail, and delivered music that followed a consistent flow. The soloists and the chorus gave it their all, and the way the music builds up to the final movement is truly the ultimate in emotion. In Japan, Stenz is often seen as a Mahler conductor, but he also has long experience in theater opera and is a specialist in Henze. He is one of the leading conductors of the next generation.
