They are true progressive artists.After releasing their sixth album, NOCTOURNIQUET, in 2012, the band disbanded in 2013 when Cedric Bixler Zavala announced his departure. However, the two soon joined forces and have been touring and doing recording sessions as new projects ANTEMASQUE and At the Drive-In. In recent years, there have been numerous rumors of a Mars Volta reunion, and following the release of the luxury box set "LA REALIDAD DE LOS SUENOS" in 2021 to sum up their career, the band announced their reunion this June through the art installation "L'ytome Hodorxi Telesterion The reunion was announced through the art installation "L'ytome Hodorxi Telesterion" in June of this year. The simultaneous release of the new song "Blacklight Shine" and the North American tour heightened expectations for a new album. Finally, the long-awaited release of the reunion album was announced. The new album, the first for the Mars Volta in 10 years, is the self-titled "THE MARS VOLTA.Included in the recording are three singles that have already been released: "Blacklight Shine," "Graveyard Love," and "Virgil. They say that their sound, which has been revived after a long hiatus, is a work that could be called a paradigm shift for the Mars Volta. The new album shakes off some of the "Mars Volta traits" that have been built up over the years: only two songs are longer than four minutes, and the uplifting, polished, progressive style of their earlier work is absent. Instead, THE MARS VOLTA is a delicate shimmer of Caribbean rhythms supported by refined, yet intense craftsmanship and songwriting. This is the Mars Volta at its most mature, simplest, and most committed.The album contains the maximum output of their sound and sound world, blending the underground pop melodies of Omar Rodriguez Lopez with the dark science fiction world of Cedric Bixler Zavala's occult and evil governments.
