With a stellar lineup including Bex Burch, Sarathy Korwar, Colocutor, Dele Sosimi, Unknown To Known, Danalogue (The Comet Is Coming / Soccer96) and Al MacSween (Kefaya), this new album showcases Flock's ability to push the limits of the composition process and create unique tracks in a united spirit. Recorded in 2022 in the serene landscape of the Welsh countryside, Flock II emerges as a fascinating departure from the debut album, which was recorded in a single day at London's Fish Factory.Surrounded by the enchanting surroundings of Druidstone, a mysterious coastal retreat in western Wales, the group embarked on a week-long immersive recording session. Here, they drew inspiration from unconventional structures and atmospheres to create unique "jump-off" devices for each piece of music. From diagrams that utilized shapes and repeating patterns, to rotating lights that emitted speckled light, to mobile apps that created intense strobe effects in front of each musician, each device set the mental state and created a unique approach to composition. Studio Owz, a renovated country church, provided the ideal environment for their creative process. From the intense to the hypnotic, the resulting songs take the listener on a very personal journey, weaving their own story within a fantastical soundscape. The culmination of a strong and joyful bond between five of the UK's finest musicians, Flock II is another important recording that defies genre or category.The cover artwork and illustrations are by the talented Muhammad "Rofi" Fatchurofi, a vaguely artistic complement ideal for Flock's work.
