Producer/songwriter/arranger Van Dyke Parks, who has developed his own unique style with innovative arrangements and high musicianship, has collaborated with Veronica Valerio, a singer/songwriter/harpist based in Veracruz, Mexico. The project is now complete! A happy marriage of "Latin and American pop music" that transcends time and borders is about to begin. The talented producer/songwriter/arranger Van Dyke Parks has developed his own unique style with his innovative arrangements and high level of musicality. He has now completed a collaborative work with Veronica Valerio, a singer/songwriter/harpist based in Veracruz, Mexico. The four-song album, "Only in America," was produced remotely without actually gathering during the lockdown caused by the new coronavirus pandemic. Veronica says that it was her dream to collaborate with Van Dyke Parks, and she wrote to him two years ago and was able to give form to that dream. The four chamber music tracks on this album, which originated in Veronica's native Yucatan state of Mexico, feature poetry by Veronica and orchestrations by Van Dyke Parks, and it is hard to believe that they were created in a remote, long-distance environment. The album also includes "Cielito Lindo," "The Flight of the Guacamaya," and "Camino a casa" by Veronica Valerio and Van Dyke Parks, all of which feature Van Dyke Parks' unique chamber orchestra and fluid orchestration that transports the listener to a pre-Columbian pyramid, a guacamole, or a casa. The album transports the listener to the pre-Columbian pyramids and ancient civilizations of Mexico. According to Van Dyke Parks in interviews, this is just the beginning of their collaboration. A happy marriage of "Latin and American pop music" that transcends time and borders is about to begin.
