In 1970, Slade rode the momentum of the glam-rock movement, and with their simple, clear, and bold pop melodies and eccentric glam fashion, they hit the UK charts one hit after another, making a huge impact as one of the biggest bands in Europe at the time. In the 1970s, the band not only produced three No. 1 albums in the UK, but from 1971 to 1976, they had 17 consecutive singles in the UK Top 20, and their momentum was unstoppable, boasting overwhelming popularity as the "soundtrack of the glam generation. Their third studio album, "Slayed?The hit album, which debuted at No. 1 on the U.K. album chart and stayed there for 34 weeks, spawned hit singles such as "Mama Weer All Crazee Now," which was later covered by Quiet Riot and became a revival hit, "Gudbbuy T' Jane," and "Let the Good Times Roll. Merry Xmas Everybody," released in 1973, is still played as a standard Christmas song every December throughout the U.K., and Noel Gallagher has also sung "No Slade=No Oasis. Noel Gallagher has declared "No Slade = No Oasis," and their legacy on the British music scene is so significant. (Incidentally, Oasis also covered "Cum On Feel The Noize".) Their masterpiece is now being reissued in analog format.
