He has covered pop standards by Paul Simon, Bjork, Joni Mitchell, Burt Bacharach, Paul McCartney, etc. He is one of the best jazz singers in the Netherlands, having won "Golden Records" and "Edison Awards". His graceful and sophisticated style is very attractive. David Lynes was born in Brussels on March 22, 1965.Since 1993 he has been Professor of Vocal Jazz at the Royal Jazz Conservatory of Brussels, and since 2010 a visiting professor at the Amsterdam Conservatory. He has performed with Billy Cobham, the Count Basie Orchestra, Toots Sielmans, Clark Terry, Andre Ceccarelli, and others, and has been a leader or co-leader of A Lover's Question in 1990 (with novelist, playwright, essayist, poet, and activist James Baldwin Fay has recorded 25 albums as a leader or co-leader, including 1990's A Lover's Question (a collaboration with novelist, playwright, essayist, poet, and activist James Baldwin) and 2020's Skin in the Game. In collaborating with the WDR Big Band on this album, Faye invited David Lynx, a fellow singer of 20 years, to join her on three of David's songs they recorded 20 years ago for their project One Heart, Three Voices, "Sum It Up," "I Will Build Myself A Nation," "Along Goes Betty," and Ivan Paduart's "Waterfalls" in the same key as they recorded them in 20 years ago for their project "One Heart, Three Voices.The mature voice and thick big band sound make this one of the best swingy pieces.
