Description:

Jim Beard and Jon Herrington, active in the fields of jazz and crossover music as well as supporting Steely Dan, have joined forces to create a duo! A duo album by two musicians who have been in contact with each other since the 1980s and are members of the group "Steely Dan", which creates the immortal AOR sound as well as the jazz field. Jim Baird is a pianist who studied with artists such as Roland Hanna and George Shearing, both of whom are known for their romanticism, originality, and neatness, and has played on Pat Metheny's "Secret Story" and Wayne Shorter's works. He has also studied arranging under Don Sebesky, and has composed for Michael Brecker and John McLaughlin, and produced albums for Dennis Chambers, Mike Stern, Iliane, and many other great artists.Although they have only released six leader albums since 1990's "Songs of the Sun," their taste is one of the best of our time, including sound creation at CTI. In recent years, "Revolution" with Metropole, conducted by Vince Mendoza, is still fresh in our memory. John Hainton, on the other hand, is also a craftsman in the world of crossover music. This album is a collection of pop and intimate performances by these two musicians. Undercurrent" by Bill Evans and Jim Hall is the most famous jazz album by a piano and guitar duo, but this album reflects the musical tastes of the two musicians. Starting with Jim Beard's song, which opens with a New Orleans-style stride approach that could be described as Thelonious Monk-esque, the eight songs on this album are diverse. There is a John Herrington number with melancholic melody and harmony, and M3, also performed by Bill Evans, has a bossa approach that is closer to Sinatra and Jobim's version. The chamber music-like performance of M4, on the other hand, is closer to the undercurrent, and is interspersed with a performance of a standard song like M7, in which you can hear Herrington's guitar, which he says he was inspired by George Benson. The last song was the Steely Dan classic "Gaucho"! The guitar and piano instruments are not suited for duets in terms of harmony work and rhythmic roles, as they are both chordal instruments. However, a successful short tour two and a half years ago led to the creation of this album. The band's performance is an ideal fusion of rock, pop, bossa, blues, and jazz music, with a love for rock and respect for the jazz tradition. Members:Jim Beard(p), Jon Herington(g)
