Brahms composed many arrangements of his own orchestral works for four-handed piano, including the German Requiem, a new style of orchestral music. The German Requiem was also arranged for four hands by the composer himself, but without the vocal part, and was intended to be played only on the piano. This album contains a rare version of Brahms' arrangement, in which the vocal part is restored and performed by soloist, chorus, and piano. The chorus is also reduced in size, and the singing sounds more intimate with a clean, chamber-like sound. Please listen to this unprecedented German Requiem. King International
