Analog reissue of the first album by the American psychedelic/progressive band Ars Nova in 1968! Ars Nova was formed in 1967 by students at the prestigious Mannes College of Music in New York City. The band auditioned and earned a contract with Elektra, and their 1968 release, ARS NOVA, was recorded in LA and produced by Paul Rothschild, who had worked with psychedelic acts such as The Doors and Love on the same label. The sound, which incorporated ethnic and classical influences, was so groundbreaking that Roy Wood took a liking to it and covered "Fields of People" on his THE MOVE album. Although the sound was praised by many critics, it was difficult to reproduce live, and the band's first lineup disbanded without a trace. This reissue is a replica of the US jacket (gatefold sleeve), with full lyrics, band story, and rare photos on a 4-sided jacket-sized insert sheet.Remastered from the master copy stored by Warner Music!
