Description:

Bach played by Petra Mülljans, founder of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra! German virtuoso Petra Mülljans, founder of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and concert mistress for many years! Petra Müller-Jans plays Bach's Sonatas for Violin with accompaniment with her lustrous baroque violin tone! Petra Müller-Jans is a German Baroque violinist and conductor who studied with Rainer Kussmaul and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, and founded the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra (FBO) with Gottfried von der Goltz in 1987. In the 2017/18 season, which marked the orchestra's 30th anniversary, he passed the baton to Christian Bezeidenhout, who has remained a member of the orchestra ever since, He is also active in the field of chamber music, including the Freiburg Baroque Consort, as well as a group called "Hot and Cool" with whom he has performed and recorded concerts and recordings of klezmer, tango, charades, and jazz, and boasts a repertoire brimming with talent. He is currently a professor of baroque violin at the Freiburg Conservatory of Music and the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt.Petra Mülljans' Bach album, with its lustrous baroque violin tone and emotional rhythms, is a collection of two violin sonatas with basso continuo and six violin sonatas with obbligato harpsichord. Like the masterpieces for unaccompanied violin and cello, these masterpieces from Bach's Köthen period were recorded at the Bach-Related Palace (now Schloss Kothen, one of the venues of the Köthen Bach Festival), which was the residence of the Marquis Anhalt-Köthen. The harpsichordist is Sabine Bauer, a founding member of Camerata Cologne, and she is joined in the two Sonatas with Bass Sonata by Marie Deller, who has guested with the FBO, Camerata Cologne, and other major German old music ensembles on both cello and recorder.
