Description:
Persian classical repertoire and European Baroque music! During the Baroque period, the eyes of European society turned to the exotic lands of the Orient, with Persia in particular exerting a special fascination that was not necessarily of an anthropological nature. Exotic places and personalities, for example in Montesquieu's famous "Letter to the Persians" (1721), allowed him to express and spread new ideas of the Enlightenment, such as absolutist criticism, under the guise of exoticism. Music, however, was not so philosophical or anthropological, and Persian themes tended to provide a special stimulus in opera and instrumental music. In this album, the Hamburger Ratsmusik, an ancient music ensemble led by gamba player Simone Eckert, whose repertoire consists mainly of works from the 17th and 18th centuries, and the Neoclassical Ensemble of Tehran, which specializes in Persian music as handed down in ancient manuscripts to reconsider the connection between the strong aesthetic foundations that exist between the two great classical music worlds: European classical music and the so-called "Makam world tradition" represented by Persian classical music.
