Strattner's Religious Concerto Collection All World Premiere RecordingsThe music of Georg Christoph Strattner, sung by the beautiful Austrian soprano Miriam Feuerzinger, who is blossoming in the world of old music. Austrian antique soprano Miriam Feuerzinger, who has blossomed in the world of antique music, made a splash in 2014 when she won the Echo Classics Award for her collection of Graupner cantatas (CHR 77381), and has since continued to garner acclaim as a specialist in the religious music of the German Baroque. Feuerzinger's new recording of religious concertos by Georg Christoph Strattner (1644/45-1704), who was also featured in "The Religious Concertos of Johann Rosenmüller and the Unknown Composers of His Time" (CHR 77425). Strattler received his first musical education from his cousin Zamuel Capricornus, a German church musician and composer who held such important positions as music director at the court of the Count of Baden-Derach frontier and music director of the city of Frankfurt.This is a religious vocal work written for four voices (soprano, alto (countertenor in this recording), tenor, and bass (two sopranos in one piece), several violins each, viola da gamba, and bass continuo, all recorded for the first time in the world. As on the previous recording (CHR77425), the Les Escapades, a viol ensemble of four female players, is joined by guest musicians on violin, theorbo, and organ, making for an eight-member ensemble that adds a delicate touch to the singing of Feuerzinger and others.
