With his two sonatas for violin and cello, Bellon says he was struck by the orchestral dimensions of Strauss's piano writing, his sparkling tone, and the artistry of his extended phrasing. Both piano works are early works, but already they contain all of R. Strauss's talent: the Bach-like counterpoint techniques of the five pieces. In the Largo, the melodic sense of a song-like melody shines through. In the Sonata, the fatalistic first movement, the extremely operatic slow movement, and the grand epic-like dramaturgy leading to the triumphant finale, showcase Bellon's passionate performance filled with love and respect for R. Strauss. Guillaume Bellon studied both piano and violin at the Besançon Conservatory and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.She won the first prize at the Epinal International Piano Competition and the Modern Times Award for the best performer of contemporary works at the Clara Haskil Competition. She has performed at various music festivals including the La Roque d'Antheron Music Festival.
